These waffle style towels were made in organic cotton by the Imabari based maker Johnan Orimono.
The town of Imabari in Ehime is a hub of innovation, and quality in towels. The many small and medium size businesses in the region, each plough a niche in their soft materials, and seek to engineer and create ever more satisfying towels to use.
Johnan Orimono are part of this community, and have been since their founding in 1914. Alongside classic line ups they make bathrobes, towel blankets (’towel-kets’) handkerchiefs and more.
These towels, which they style ‘mou cube’ are precision made in their weave, and extremely soft to touch. The waffle texture gives them a distinctive feel against the skin.
These are in face towel size, which is around 35cm by 93cm. They weigh 120g.
