This is a large bowl by Motoharu Ozawa, that shows his skills in the kohiki pottery style.
Kohiki is a finish that creates texture through the application of slip and translucent glaze, and here the large canvas of the bowl shows variations and depth within the style.
The sloping sides of the bowl measure eight 'sun', in the Japanese pottery measurement scale, which equates to a diameter of around 24cm.
In common with all of Ozawa's work it is a stylish stage on which to present food, that is also a pleasure to use.
The piece overall has a height of 5.5cm, together with its 24cm diameter and weight of 535g.
