This soup bowl is by Gifu-based ceramicist Motoharu Ozawa.
In Japan, Ozawa’s work is known and loved for combinations it makes with food.
This piece is completed in the potter’s distinctive ‘kingfisher’ blue glaze shade. It gloops along the side of the bowl, and appears almost pixelated close up.
The base shows the reddish clay mix that Ozawa has perfected, and the bowl overall forms a strong entry point to his work.
The diameter of the bowl is 16cm, its height is 6cm, and it weighs 450g.
