Maiko and Masatoshi Tamura both travelled to Okinawa to follow love of its pottery tradition.
Schooled at the modern home of this tradition, the Kitagama kiln in Yomitan, they met, and went on to make their own base in north Okinawa in 2010.
Maiko and Masatoshi’s ceramics are rich in pattern, and while retaining echoes of the Kita-gama potters, establish bright new forms. Rooted in tradition, the product of study and love, Tamura-gama’s work is vivid, authentic and a pleasure to use.
