Description
This sake set was made by Kasama based ceramicist Tatsushi Nemoto.

It is made up of a katakuchi and guinomi, with shaped waved formations on their surface.

Of the pieces Nemoto says that they take their inspiration from his 30 years of work at the potter’s wheel, and the possibilities in clay and expression that he explored in that time.

The textural decoration to the surface was created between his finger tips, and is in each case unique.

About Tatsushi Nemoto

A technical potter with a strong association to the ceramic university in Kasama, Tatsushi Nemoto has a particular dedication to forming on the wheel. He throws quickly and with precision, but is also adapt in techniques such as icchin slip design, and work with the tobiganna chisel. In fact Nemoto operates the full toolkit of skills of a Japanese potter, and his work demonstrates the imagination and skill at this disposal. Almost always inspired by nature, this can mean bringing the texture of a forest mushroom to his kyūsu teapot shape, or vases that resemble fallen fruit. Nemoto also often carves directly to clay, adding patterns and rhythmic lines to the pieces that he shapes on the wheel.
