Description

This guinomi style sake cup is by Kasama based ceramicist Kenichiro Inoue.

While his work is often defined by colour, this monochrome series is expressive in Inoue’s hand drawn designs.

By definition each design is unique, and are slightly graffiti-esque hieroglyphs on the surface of the work.

In this case, Inoue has opted for fish motifs, with what appears to be a cat fish adorning the side of the piece

The cup is 6.5cm high, and has a diameter of 6.5cm. It weighs 155g.

About Kenichiro Inoue

Kenichiro Inoue bases his work on a dedication to vivid pattern. Boldly painted fish and flowers stand out across the surface of this hand-painted pottery. A practising potter in Kasama since 1984, Inoue’s work has lost none of its impact. If anything this patterns are becoming more bold, and match his cheerful status in the local ceramics scene. None of this is to belie to quality of his skilfully made ceramics, which have received recognition in Japan and overseas.
