These bamboo woven vases were made for Oita based Chikuen.
The stems of bamboo can be split into strips, and the strong threads intertwined. This is skilled work, for which Oita, in north-east Kyushu, is a particular centre.
These vases are 8.6cm in diameter and 16cm high. They weigh around 40g.
