This desktop calendar is by legendary Japanese stencil dye artist Keisuke Serizawa, and was printed by the Toyama based washi paper firm Keijusha.
Until his death in 1984 Keisuke Serizawa was a leading exponent of Japanese dye techniques, and contributed greatly to their revival. The aesthetics of his work perhaps more than any other express those of the Japanese folk craft movement of the mid twentieth century.
For a period of 40 years Serizawa made individual calendar designs, and this 2025 version corresponds to the one he created for 1947.
Moving through the months, you can reconnect to the spirit of the age.
This year's calendar completes the 40 year cycle of designs by Serizawa, and also marks the 130th anniversary of his birth. As such it is the last that Keijusha will make.
The calendars are 13.5cm by 10cm.
