They depict bird species of Japan, in the design style of the artist founded small business.
These include kingfisher, bullfinch, jay, night heron and other birds seen in Gifu - each with the species name written in Japanese on the front of the card.
About Shin Kogei
Based in Hida-Takayama in the snowy north of Gifu prefecture, Shin Kogei’s work narrates scenes from life and nature in this historic town. Once an important castle town, it is known today for its wooded, sedate and artistic style of life, and its fine tradition of furniture.
Founded by a local artist, Shin Kogei’s shop stocking its handmade products, is a connecting factor to the past - and stands at the heart of Hida-Takayama’s cultural identity today.
