These bamboo castanets were made for Oita based Chikuen.
The bull frogs of Japanese rice fields provide a baseline to summer nights. To the local ear they make a sound like kero-kero. These frog castanets make their own a rhythmical click. But they do have kero-kero stenciled on their backs.
They are crafted in Japan from locally sourced bamboo, and are fun items to make a sound.
Each Frog is around 6cm x 6cm and 1.5 cm height. They weigh approximately 26g.
