These vegetable themed chopstick (or cutlery) rests were made for Oita based bamboo house Chicken.
Unusually for the family firm, they are not in bamboo but rather in box wood (tsuge).
They are solid, individually crafted and expressive little lotus roots, aubergines, kabu radishes and more, on the table.
They are around 6cm x 2.5cm, and 1cm high. They weigh around 15g.
About Chikuen
Based in central Beppu, in Oita on Kyushu, Chikuen source and supply items from within the bamboo craftsmanship for which their region is known. This includes traditional and modern accoutrements to Japanese life, and items to inject utility and fun into everyday life.
